e-Health Spain

The Government of Spain, through the Plan Avanza, has made a determined bet for extending ICT in the sector of health, with the Project Health in Line. For its implementation, an agreement has been signed between the MHSP, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and the public entity Red.es. Endowed with 448 Million € for the period 2006 – 2012, of which 243 come from the General Administration and 205 from the Regions:

• Incorporation of all Regional Health Cards in the common database of NHS protected population;
• Support to the Regions in the deployment of EHR in their territory, with NHS interoperability elements;
• Extension of the systems of Electronic Prescription – dispensation of medicines;
• Strengthening of the NHS’ Central Node of Services, supporting and guaranteeing the aptitude of these systems to interoperate.
